When a fireplace becomes more of an eyesore than a cozy focal point, it’s time for a dramatic makeover. That’s exactly what happened when DIY enthusiast Evija discovered serious structural issues with the fireplace in her 1930s home, turning a necessary repair into an opportunity for a stunning modern renovation.
From Crumbling to Stunning: The Challenge
The original fireplace presented multiple problems that went beyond aesthetics. The structure hadn’t been operational since 1991 and was literally falling apart, with chunky, outdated tiles and deteriorating components that posed safety concerns. For Evija and her husband Shaun, this wasn’t just about updating the look—it was about creating a safe, functional centerpiece for their living space.

The couple approached this major renovation with careful planning, dividing tasks between DIY work and professional expertise.
